In pursuit of a top treble

A TRIPLE dose of success has left Welford chasing glory in three competitions.

The awesome threesome of Peter Day, Mick Aubrey and Paul Speake have reached the finals of the National Triples that will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 14 and 15.

Their semi-final contest proved something of an easy passage as the trio won 11 of the 18 ends when recording a 20-11 victory.

The club's ladies pairing of Joan Parfitt and Viv Hall have reached the Zone finals of their competition. The Area champions now travel to Bromsgrove where another win will secure their place at the National Finals in Basingstoke.

Welford have also topped their group in the Famous Grouse competition after inflicting a handsome 78-66 defeat on Solihull that brought them 11 league points and a place in the event's second stage.

Scores (v Solihull) - Singles: Peter Day won 21-15. Pairs: Fred Coleman & Dave Bennett lost 26-14. Triples: Mick Aubrey, Dennis Hall & Mick Hawkins won 19-12. Fours: Dave Speake, Kevin James, Ian Smith & Mark Rainbow won 24-13.
