Back in the swim

CHIPPING Norton outdoor pool campaigners have succeeded in raising the £13,500 required to keep the pool open this year.

They have also persuaded West Oxfordshire District Council and pool operator Wycombe Leisure to open the pool earlier this year in time for the Easter holidays.

Claire Jarvis, spokeswoman for the Keep Our Pool Open campaign, said the pool will open on April 8.

"We thought it was crazy to miss the Easter holiday but because the pool is heated it's warm enough to swim in," said Ms Jarvis.

KOPO was forced to raise £13,500 by last weekend to prevent the district council closing it down. The town council contributed £6,000.

The district council was due to confirm the pool's opening at its meeting yesterday.
