Couple's warning over internet banking e-mail

A MORETON couple are warning people to be on the look out for an internet banking scam.

Jason and Emma-Jane Cyphus, of Fosseway Avenue, recently received an e-mail, allegedly from Lloyds TSB Bank, asking them to update their bank details for security details.

Fortunately, the pair, who run Cyphus Computer Solutions, realised it was a fraud, but now they want to make sure no-one falls victim to the scam.

"We started receiving e-mails about a month ago purporting to be from Barclays, one from the HSBC and one from Lloyds," said Jason.

"Just ignore e-mails asking for bank details. Your bank will never ever send you e-mails asking you for security details or asking you to update your bank details," he said.

Jason and Emma-Jane are so concerned about the problem they have set up a special section on their own website - www.cyphus.com - with updates on the fraudulent e-mails doing the rounds.

Lloyds TSB issued a statement saying they have worked with the National High-Tech Crime Unit to shut down the sites behind the bogus e-mails.

"We would stress that Lloyds TSB would never ask customers by e-mail to enter or record any of their account or security details," said a bank spokesman.
