Backache for keepers as cup sides hammer eight

CUP action produced a goal feast for Stratford Alliance teams on Saturday.

High-flying Mettis Aerospace were ruthless in an eight-goal hammering of strugglers Oast House while Needlemakers Lions racked up a similar haul against Badsey Utd in the Edwards of Stratford Cup quarter-finals.

Jon Ingram led the way for Mettis with a hat-trick, the others coming from Matt Hill (2), Adam Hill, Arron Barnett and an own goal.

Needlemakers were led by an Adrian Smith treble, backed by singles from Danny Laight, David Hughes, Danny Carter, Damien Carter and Brandon Miller, with a consolation for Badsey from Martin Schimberi.

League strugglers FISCC upset the form book with a 2-1 home win over Shipston Excelsior thanks to Andy Taplin and Luke Brittan, and Badsey Rangers edged out Henley Forest 2-1 after extra time with goals from Dave Williams and Nick Sims.

Blockley Sports' Shaun Stanley grabbed six in his side's 9-1 demolition of Badsey Rangers Res in the Alun Rees Trophy Preliminary Round and Campden Town Res hammered eight on their visit to Park Tavern, including two from Gary Hawkins.
