Moreton Rgrs U-10 2,

Marsh Gibbon 1

THE Moreton boys went into Saturday's last league game of the season needing a win to finish top of the table.

They started brightly and were playing some excellent football against a well organised Marsh Gibbon side.

After their keeper had pulled off stunning saves from the lively Harry Bates and David Nieman, the visitors took the lead after a goalmouth scramble.

Rangers carried on dominating the game with the visiting keeper again foiling Bates and Henry Leonard. However, on the stroke of half-time, the impressive Gary Luker won the ball in midfield, took it into the visitors' half and threaded the ball to Bates who unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top right-hand corner.

The second half was dominated by the home and, when the visitors did try to attack, they never threatened Max Outteridge's goal.

The home side thought luck was against them when Robbie Shurmer thundered a header against the bar from a corner and, after some good work from Harrison Foster, Luker picked the ball up on the left and fired in a vicious shot that shaved the bar.

With the final whistle looming, the home side thought that they would have to settle for a draw.

Luker, though, then won the ball in midfield, ran at the Marsh defence before slipping an inch-perfect pass to Bates who smashed the ball into the net.

Moreton Rgrs U-12 2,

Deddington Colts 1

TWO red-hot goals warmed up an Arctic-like Sunday afternoon when a harsh wind howled across an exposed pitch.

Players had to be blessed with attributes such as determination and effort. These characteristics were personified in Carl Luker and George Paish as they broke the ball down enabling the inspirational Martin Tomes to do what he does best and penetrate the opposition defence.

Rangers' superior possession, however, did not yield goals and, after a fruitless first period, it was Deddington who took the initiative with a fine solo strike.

Moreton's resilience and character was being severely tested but, thanks to a thunderous strike from Lee Brooks and an exquisite curler from Tomes, they had all the answers as they emerged victorious.

Ilmington Utd U-10 8, Inkberrow 0

ILMINGTON carried on their impressive form with an excellent display.

The star of the game was Will McCoombe who scored the first five goals.

The first was a free-kick struck with power and precision followed by two long-range efforts and a couple of tap-ins after good inter-play with skipper George Cowper and Alex Meadows.

J J Watson scored two goals and Cameron Stephenson, who was playing out of goal for the first time this season, thumped in a fierce shot to complete the scoring in the second half.

Despite McCoombe's amazing scoring efforts, he had to be content with making the headlines as George Matts was named player of the match for his excellent all-round performance.

Littleton Jnrs U-10 0,

Evesham Utd Robins 7

UNITED'S unbeaten run continued after an excellent performance.

Josh Downey opened the scoring with a fine individual effort, before Elliott Grady scored from the narrowest of angles. David Stringer then made it three before half-time.

After the break the goals continued with a cross-shot from James Coldrick before Stringer scored his second. Mark Washington then picked up Stringer's pass to fire home before Nathan Jelfs finished off the scoring.

Worcester Raiders 2, Littleton Jnrs U-13 5

LITTLETON turned in a Jekyll and Hyde performance in their quest for the championship.

The first half found them defending poorly as a team and giving the ball away with great regularity. However, they did take the lead when Jack Proctor rose highest to score from Matt Smith's cross.

Poor defending allowed a Worcester player time and space at the far post to score with ease.

The home side then took the lead wit a goal directly from a corner but, just before half-time, Matt Goss brought Littleton level with a close-range finish.

The second half saw Littleton return to their normal free-flowing football and they dominated for long periods.

Lance Smith turned the game as he rounded three players before firing home from close-range. He then grabbed a second when he followed up a goalline clearance to make it 4-2 before completing his hat-trick with a terrific shot into the bottom corner.

Evesham Utd U10s 3, Astwood Colts 0

EVESHAM warmed up for their Mercian Cup semi-final with a well crafted friendly win.

United enjoyed most of the possession but they were unable to convert chances into goals with George Darling and James Bearcroft being foiled by the goalkeeper.

Henry Woods came close on two occasions, once hitting the crossbar and then having the keeper push his shot on to a post.

Owen Jones was forced to clear with a header as the Colts pressed forward and keeper Leon Ballard twice rushed out to clear with his feet.

After the break, Woods opened the scoring and then troubled the keeper with an overhead kick. It was Craig Whiting who doubled the lead after a defensive error.

Astwood never gave up and Ballard was called upon to make a point-blank stop.

Captain Bearcroft ended the scoring with thumping left-footer from 20 yards.

Evesham Utd U-11 0,

Drakes Broughton 5

QUICKER movement to the ball by the visiting players proved the key to their victory.

Only fine goalkeeping from Peter Smith prevented United from being more than four goals adrift at the break.

The hosts were more competitive in the second half and Alistair Taylor and Jake Bennett both went close to reducing the arrears before Drakes added a fifth.

Badsey Rgrs 3, Evesham Utd U-11 4

UNITED started the stronger and their efforts paid off when Dave Thompson opened the scoring.

Olly Scarrott soon doubled the lead and, when he was fouled in the penalty area, Ciaran Gilbert's spot-kick made it 3-0 at half-time.

Scarrott extended Evesham's lead before Rangers fought back and scored three times to set up an exciting climax.
