Town gardeners praised for their floral displays

GARDENERS in Shipston have been praised for their efforts this year despite the difficult weather earlier in the summer.

Judges for the Shipston in Bloom garden competition said they were impressed by the efforts made by townspeople.

Organiser Clare Brett thanked green-fingered residents for helping to brighten up the town. "The standard of gardens has been wonderful this year I would like to thank everyone for their efforts."

The winner of the front garden competition, which was open to any home visible from the street, was the Caton family from Green Lane.

The Luker family of Donnington Road took top honours in the rear garden category and the Osbournes of Stratford Road won the courtyard gardens prize.

The Black Horse on Station Road was judged to be the best commercial premises in the town.

All winners will be invited to a presentation evening in October.
