Successful farmers' market to be repeated

SHIPSTON'S first farmers' market has been declared a success that will be repeated.

Hundreds of people turned out for the event on Mill Street last Wednesday and local producers said they were delighted with the day's brisk trade.

Shipston's market town officer Julia Aratoon said a decision on having a regular farmers' market in Shipston would be taken after the second trial event on Wednesday, August 25.

"Everybody thought it was fantastic.

"We had a lot of people coming up and saying they thought it was just what the town needed. We believe it will be a really good way to get people coming into Shipston."

She added that the impact on other traders in Shipston would be closely considered before the event became a regular fixture on the town's calendar.

Gudrun Berry, chairman of the Stour Power action group, said the market was a great success for everyone involved.

"It would be nice to see it held in the High Street eventually," she added.
