Throckmorton C.P.S.C
THE home shoot at Throckmorton on Sunday was a red-hot affair. The ground basked in summer sunshine and the members responded with a display of top-class shooting.
On the Skeet layout three members scored maximums. Paul Colley, Stephen Boulter and Mark Doughty all produced faultless performances to record 25/25. In close attendance only one target adrift came Phil Clarke and Dave Barnfield (24/25)
The Down the Line layout proved to be the most intense competition of the morning. Evergreen John Ford made no mistakes with a faultless performance, posting 75 ex 75, to take top spot on the leader board.
The pressure on Ford was immediate with good scores coming in thick and fast. Gary Shaw, Trevor Shaw, John Leighton and Lewis Thorner all had to resort to their second barrels on two occasions to achieve maximums.
Linden Partridge used her second barrel on three occasions recording her best score and Frank Hartwell matched Partridge's score late in the day to be up among the leaders. Tony Smith and Adam Barnfield allowed a single target to escape in their quests for maximums. In hot pursuit came Stuart Emms, Dave Barnfield, Rod Wellavise and Alan Ayres.
The Sporting layout saw Stuart Emms and John Tarplee do battle again. The final scores had them one target apart. On this occasion Tarplee overcame Emms in an excellent display of sporting clay shooting. The technically tricky layout left little room for error. Tarplee's score of 47/50 proved too good for Emms, whose return was an excellent 46. The leading duo were ahead of the rest of the field by four clear targets. Mark Doughty claimed the final place on the leader board, with 42.
