Winners are too strong

LAST week's Inter-Club Time Trial saw 56 riders, incl-uding several private triallists, on the start line and the relatively fast Harvington course.

Cheltenham were the overall winners of the three-club event based on aggregate times of the six fastest riders and the age related veterans competition.

The Wheelers, like Stratford, enjoyed strong support could only finish third and were no match on this occasion.

Times: A Scarsbrook +4.58; J Oxtoby +5.59; R Hunt +5.06; I Griffiths +3.15; G Chandler +4.19; K Ascroft +4.39; J Jenkins +2.32; R Corder +3.27; T Hedley +4.20.

The club's ten-mile Time Trial promised fast times on a warm sunny evening but that wasn't the case.

Mike Nisbet was the quickest Wheeler clocking 24.29, while 16-year-old David Cole (27.04) showed that his previous week's first club ride was no fluke with the fourth fastest time of the night.

Visiting riders Andy Sharpe (23.31) and John French (23.59) produced the event's fastest times.

Twenty one members, split into two groups, took to the roads last Sunday for a club run to Stratford.

Steve McGrath and Adrian Main led the groups through Bretforton, Honeybourne, Mick-leton, Ilmington and on to Strat-ford for a coffee stop.

The first group then moved on to Wellesbourne before the return along the Greenway towards Pebworth, Honey-bourne and returning to Eve-sham to complete 55 and 45 miles respectively.

It's the annual Three Counties 200K Audax meeting on Sunday when racers are asked to meet at Hampton Ferry at 8am.

More than 60 entries have already been accepted and help will be needed on the day.
