Tony relishes task!

AN ESTIMATED £6,000 will swell club coffers at Bourton Rovers FC after a successful Lisboa Luz 24-hour Footballathon.

Money raised will go towards the redevelopment of the Rissington Road Sports and Social Club that acts as a base not only for the footballers but also for the Roadrunners and members of the tennis and hockey sections.

None of the 17 soccer teams in action stayed unbeaten although only a last-gasp defeat in their opening match prevented an experienced line-up led by Tony Spedding enjoying an unbeaten day.

However, perhaps the greatest personal achievement was recorded by Tony D'avanzo who manned the barbecue uninterrupted for the duration of the event, flipping burgers and sausage to the tune of more than £1,000.
