YOUNG people from the Vale of Evesham are being invited to let their imaginations run wild and make their dramatic dreams come true in a week-long workshop.
Kim and Lynn Davies, from Norton, who run Kayelle Productions, are staging the event called Soap Theatre at the Evesham Arts Centre from next Monday, August 16 to 20.
Open to young people aged 12 and over, it consists of an intensive week of creativity and drama in which those taking part make up their own soap characters and scripts and then act them out.
Lynn is an award-winning TV scriptwriter, former youth and community director of the Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury, and has recently become an outreach worker at Evesham Arts Centre.
He said: "Soap Theatre is all about living out a fantasy in a world where the fantastic is eminently possible. It is a form of theatre that creates and acts out the sort of extremes that television soaps resort to in the need to attract viewers."
He explained that Kayelle Productions specialises in theatre and media productions and education.
"Already this summer we have been involved in a bunch of activities, working mostly with young people. We've made a horror movie in the Forest of Dean with Gloucestershire Youth Service and we've been working with three different schools on three different video versions of Richard III - murders and all.
"We take what the kids give us - what they dream up - and we work with them to turn it into their own experience," said Lynn.
The Evesham Soap Theatre project costs £20 for the week and anyone interested in taking part should turn up at the arts centre on Monday August 16 at 9.30am.
