Speeding through floods

I would like to congratulate Nigel De Vine for his excellent photograph which you published on the front page of last week's Journal (August 5).

What a shame that I cannot say the same for the idiot seen driving through the flood as though they were in a speed boat, spraying water yards either side of them and quite possibly damaging their engine.

As any 'off-roader' will tell you, when 'wading' keep the revs high (to keep the water out of the exhaust) and the speed low (to prevent a bow wave which will flood the engine.)

I can only hope that the driver got home safely.
