Bright and beautiful, says Vicar

THE vicar of Brailes has thanked his green-fingered parishioners for all their efforts, which has seen the village named as one of the most beautiful in Warwickshire.

Last week it was announced that Brailes had been crowned the second-best large village in Warwickshire. It also took top honours in the Shipston district competition.

The Rev Nicholas Morgan, vicar of St George's Church in Lower Brailes, paid tribute to the hard work of everyone who rolled up their sleeves and got involved. "A large number of people in the village contribute to keeping it looking so good - I'm so pleased that all their hard work has been recognised."

The efforts of Long Compton and Ilmington residents were also rewarded, with both villages picking up gold awards in the Calor Gas-sponsored competition. Barton-on-the-Heath also caught the eyes of judges and was named best small village in the Shipston area.
