Pitching in to help!

WATERLOGGING should be a thing of the past at Ashton-under-Hill this winter after the Evesham Sunday League side ploughed money from a Football Foundation, the UK's largest sports charity, award into their soccer pitch.

Land drainage should enable the ambitious village club to prevent the weather affecting their fixtures thanks to the cash bonanza.

"We warmly congratulate the club for all the hard work and dedication in securing this award," said Football Foundation chief executive, Peter lee.

"Grass roots football is the lifeblood of the game in this country which is why it is vital that projects such as this one at Ashton now has the benefit of Foundation cash."

Funded by the FA Premier League, the Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation's largest sports charity with a £53m budget going straight into the very heart of the game.
