Joy for Jeremy and Josh

ARDEN helms battled it out for top place in last Sunday's ninth pursuit race of the season at the Club's base at Defford.

Coming from behind, Jeremy Griffiths and new crew Josh, sailed his Enterprise at a cracking pace to catch the main fleet and join the competitive fray.

Then, with some nifty sail manipulation and boat handling skill, managed to pull ahead and guard a well-earned lead for the remainder of the race.

Second place was a struggle between the Solos of Ralph Evans and Alan Browning with the former, playing the wind shifts to best advantage, gradually gaining supremacy.

Further down the fleet, close quarter tactical manoeuvring at the middle mark of the course raised questions about rule infringements - did he push or was he shoved - causing a foray into the Dinghy Racing Rule Book - and exoneration for all concerned.

Light winds and torrential downpour for much of the race failed to dampen the spirits.
