Gardener uses her skills to help a good cause

MERYL Smith is using her love of flowers to help others.

She is a keen member of the Fuchsia and Pelargonium Society, and her garden at Bishop's Cleeve is a kaleidoscope of colour, with more than 400 containers.

It also has densely packed herbaceous borders, large flowering shrubs, a pebble fountain and wildlife pond.

Now she is opening it to the public for a day to raise money for the Cobalt Unit Appeal Fund.

She said: "I do the garden anyway, and this will be a good chance for more people to see it.

"Everyone knows someone who has had or has got cancer, so it seemed like a good charity to support."

Her garden at 111, Two Hedges Road, Bishop's Cleeve, will open on Tuesday from 3 to 7pm.

Admission is £1.50.
