Night of passion and dance

AN evening of passion, power and precision is promised when some of the most talented flamenco dancers take to the stage.

The Spanish gipsy-style dance, described as the fiercest expression of the human spirit, is an adventure for performers and the audience alike.

And it comes to the Swan Theatre as part of the Worcester Festival next weekend in the form of Flamenco Express.

The performance reaches an audience beyond the aficionados and includes a full range of flamenco forms to stimulate a modern audience. In recent years there has been a renaissance of contemporary flamenco. Flamenco Express features special guest Gemma de la Cruz, who was trained by legendary artists Belen Fernandez, Belen Maya, Antonio Canales and Carmen Cortes.

She is esteemed for her performances at some of flamenco's most demanding venues, including Teatro Espanol, Teatro Barcel, Teatro de la Plaza de la villa, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid and with Paco Pena in the Royal Opera House and in Tokyo.

The Swan performance starts at 8pm and tickets, available from the box office on 01905 611427 are £12.50 (concessions £11.50).
