Ponies at races

THERE'S National Hunt and Pony Racing, in conjunction with the Pony Club, at Stratford Racecourse on Saturday, September 4.

The first of seven races gets under starter's orders at 2.15pm on an afternoon generously sponsored by Lafarge Plasterboard and Walls & Ceilings.

After racing there will be two pony races, the first at 5.40pm over four furlongs for 13.2hh-and-under and the second ten minutes later over six furlongs for 14.2hh-and-under. Riders should be Pony Club members and aged between 11 and 15.

There will be eight runners in each race with the winner and second in each qualifier being eligible for the final at Wincanton on Sunday, Oct-ober 24.

There promises to be lots to do and see for all the family, with free entertainment in the Centre Course, including a face painter, bucking bronco, bouncy castle and lots more.
