SCHOOLCHILDREN are being given the chance to take a rare look behind the scenes of Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) productions.
The RSC has erected its mobile auditorium at King Edward VI School in Stratford, where it is putting the finishing touches to productions of Julius Caesar and The Two Gentlemen of Verona.
When pupils return from their summer holiday break, pupils in years 8 to 13 will be able to get a taste of the technical rehearsals for each production. This is when every scene and costume change and lighting and sound cue is meticulously worked through.
They will not only be able to observe this critical period in the show's life, but also talk to some of the people who work backstage.
The experience will culminate in an open dress rehearsal where pupils from KES and five other schools will get a free sneak preview of one of the plays.
Then from mid-September the mobile auditorium and plays will go on tour to 15 sports and leisure centres around the country.
