Help would be life saver!

EVESHAM High School PE teacher Suzanne Hampson is jetting off for Italy next week to compete for Great Britain at the World Lifesaving Championships.

The event will see the Bishops Cleeve girl in action in both surf (sea)-based rescue events and also in pool-based timed swims.

Hampson has previously represented Great Britain at Lifesaving and English Schools as a junior swimmer.

Teaching full-time and training for this major international, has been made easier over the summer break and has seen Hampson training every day both in the pool with Evesham Swimming Club, at the gym and in open water with South Worcester Lifeguards.

"Evesham High have been brilliant in allowing me the time to go to Italy and represent Great Britain but the financial burden on me is huge, in having to pay for everything from buying my own GB Costume to my flights over to Italy," Hampson revealed. "Any help that any one may be able to offer would be greatly appreciated as I have trained so hard to get this far."

Lifesaving is a non Olympic sport and the governing Bodies - Surf Lifesaving Association & Royal Lifesaving Society - don't possess the funding to help support athletes.

The Vale girl, thus, needs to find the cash to travel to Italy, pay all accommodation costs and fund her kit, in addition to the expense of having already funded her training.

Any local companies who are able to offer support of any kind are asked to contact her on 07793 086600.
