Inkberrow's young pair come out on top in final

SUNDAY'S Prudden Road Surfacing Lea-gue's Junior Cup Final saw Inkberrow and Shipston in action.

Unlike the earlier one-set pool matches, this 12 years and under final was a best of three-set affair and it turned out to be a cracker.

Ricky Allan and Chris Smith opened for Inkberrow in top form and surprised everyone by racing away with the first set 6-0.

Tom Lane and Andrew Moss then clawed their way into the match with a battling 7-5 second set victory to square the match.

The decider saw fortune swing one way then the other before Shipston held a match point at 5-4 and 40-30.

Unfortunately, they failed to convert it and, after numerous deuces in the final few games, it was Allan and Smith who secured a 7-5 victory to take the inaugural trophy.

The winning pair also win tickets for next year's DFS Classic Tournament at Birming-ham.

The presentation of the cup and medals to both teams was made by Warwickshire LTA secretary Tony Eskew and PRS construction director Stan Woltynski.
