LITTLETONS staged its annual Open Mixed Doubles Tournament, sponsored by Badsey & Littletons Spar Shop, last Sunday.
Fourteen pairs were in action with one travelling from Nottingham to take part and pit their talents against local duos.
Players played a round-robin event before the pairs were entered in a knockout tournament of one set with a tie-break at 5-5. There were some close and tense matches before the finalists were decided.
Carol Roberts and Tim Page from Stratford faced Notting-ham's Isabelle Wild and Geoff Wallace who ran out 6-3 winners after a tremendous match played in glorious sunshine.
l LOCAL supermarket store Budgens have presented Bidford Tennis Club with a new shield for the Under-16 Boys Championship and it will be presented for the first time on Saturday.
The inaugural holder will be Alex Gretton who will receive his silverware at the Salford Road club's Junior Pres-entation and Barbecue that takes place from 2pm this weekend.
