THE Bandits have won through to the finals of the Men's team event in the inaugural Blackthorn British Skittles Championships to be staged at Sand Bay Holiday Village, Weston-super- Mare on Saturday, September 25.
The Bandits, who play their home games at the Lenches Club, Church Lench, came second in their qualifying group before beating Faraday Albion (Swindon) 257-237 in a sudden-death final qualifying match.
It was an impressive result considering the match was played on Albion's home alley where the man of the match for the winners was Graham Hicks who downed an impressive 44 pins.
All of the Bandits players will need to be in top form if they are to progress in the finals where most of Britain's top teams will be competing.
"The finals should provide some fantastic action with 16 teams in each of the three competitions - men's, ladies and mixed - fighting for the £1000 first prizes and the title of British champions," said Rachel Pengelly of the Shoot Out Club, organisers of the event.
