THE Mini Show on September 13 was a great success. There was Jam and Jerusalem, but a great deal more beside. Each table demonstrated cooking skills, embroidery, photography, things to do with odd shaped vegetables (also humorous ways of making ordinary vegetables odd shaped), flower arranging and of course jam! There were 81 entries in the show, but the overall winner was the youngest member, with 30 points. Visitors from Broadway were welcomed to the meeting and were later joined by husbands. At the business part of the evening which took place before the show, members attention was drawn to the following; autumn council meeting in Stroud on Saturday, September 25; book group at Christen Mares at 3pm, on Tuesday, September 28. The book will be The Other Boleyn Girl; Christmas Concert on December 7; Group rally in Chipping Campden on March 13; The Magic Flute to be performed in Cardiff on May 22. Members were asked to begin collecting items for Operation Christmas Child. Leaflets and lists of suitable gifts were circulated, and invitations to help with sorting etc, given.
