Moreton Rgrs U-13 2, Langford 1
RANGERS belatedly kick-started their season with a thrilling victory last Sunday.
Langford shocked their hosts with an early goal and, playing to a standard that barely touched the realms of mediocrity, Moreton were staring a second successive defeat in the face.
However, the inspiration needed came through clever and incisive inter-play between newcomer Sam Ellis and the ever-dangerous Jack Ashcroft.
Chances were being created and it wasn't long before Sam McPherson's delightful through ball allowed Ben Goddard to slot home the equaliser.
Rangers pressed forward with purpose as the second period got under way and it was left to Ashcroft to bang in a late winner and leave Moreton relieved to pick up the spoils.
Bloxham 1, Moreton Rgrs U-12 2
THIS was Rangers' first away game of the season against good, well organised opponents and to come away with all three points was an excellent result.
The first half started evenly with both teams creating chances but it was the visitors who took the lead.
Tim Firth whipped in an excellent cross for Zac Fagg to meet the ball on the volley and guide it into the back of the net.
Bloxham, with the advantage of the wind, kept Moreton in their own half for long periods and, but for the heroics of Paul Whitehouse and some stout defending, the visitors could have conceded at least one goal, but they held on until half-time.
The second half again started evenly until a Bloxham striker slipped his marker and slotted the ball home from inside of the area.
Fagg and Gary Luker now started to command the midfield and set up good chances that Moreton managed to squander and it was the home side who nearly took the lead when they struck the crossbar.
With 15 minutes left on the clock, substitute Harry Peters won the game for Rangers. He picked the ball up on the left-hand side of midfield ran at the defence and coolly placed the ball into the bottom corner.
Moreton kept control of the game until the final whistle and seemed to raise their game even higher and could quite easily have scored more goals.
Evesham Utd U-11 B 7,
Quedgeley Wdrs 0
UNITED picked up their first league points of the new season as Angus Steele banged in four goals.
Max Bayliss added two more, including a penalty, while Joe Irons made it seven-up in a sparkling show.
Midfielders Sam Hitchman and Andrew Hay were in fine form throughout, James Hitchman put on his best show of the season but it was Sam Penfold who was named Evesham's player of the match.
Swindon Village Bowmen A 5, Evesham Utd A U-11 8
SWINDON took an early lead and then added two more to leave the shellshocked visitors with a mountain to climb.
Henry Woods started the revival when he converted Sam Ford's free-kick. The latter then reduced the deficit from 20 yards before Woods levelled at 3-3.
The same player then completed his hat-trick before Ford stabbed home a second half Tom Evans corner only for the Bowmen to pull one back from the spot.
Woods restored the advantage again and then ran on to an Andrew Powell through ball to record his fifth.
The home side scored on the break before Grady grabbed a well deserved final goal.
Evesham Utd U-14 4,
Worcester City 7
OTHER than a few defensive lapses Evesham more than matched their local rivals in Saturday's opening Midland Junior Premier League clash.
The Robins pulled level three times and even looked back in the game at 5-4, but a second half penalty put the game beyond Evesham's reach.
The four United goals came from Lewis Dallard, Tom Miles, David Huggins and Adam Styles.
Shipston Excelsior Tigers 3,
Evesham Robins U-10 6
THE Robins gained their first victory in the Ambassador League at the expense of fellow new boys.
Good goalkeeping by James Gadsby and solid defending by Ryan Cale and Elliot Thompson allowed the rest of the squad to concentrate on attacking with a good display of passing play in all areas.
The Evesham goals came from Jamie Harrison, Michael Witchard and George Dudley who scored three if not four as he and Bradley Carpenter both laid claim to the final goal.
Evesham Utd Jnrs U-10 7, Ilmington Utd 2
EXCELLENT passing moves resulted in a well deserved win for Evesham.
Harry Lowe (2), Ollie Banning (2), Gareth Dee (2) and Dan Lamb were the scorers for Evesham with Ilmington grabbing two goals near the end of the match following some determined play.
Rhys Giles put in a good performance in defence with Joshua Sands, Alex Roberts, Harry Charnley and Ashley Prosser all playing well.
Badsey Rgrs U-9 7, Broadway Utd 0
RANGERS were in good form with Ryan Dixon taking the scoring honours with four goals.
Matt Andrew chipped in with a hat-trick, while Callum Grieve completed the rout.
