Full strength for Weston tie

EVESHAM United should be at full strength for Saturday's FA Cup second qualifying round tie at Common Road, writes Mervyn Collins.

Weston-super-Mare, two divisions above the Robins in Football Conference South, are the visitors and they will come up against a team buoyed by four straight wins including two in the FA Cup.

Skipper Lee Knight will be fit to return after a bout of flu kept him out of last week's home win over Weston's neighbours Clevedon, while Andy Smith, the subject of a seven-day approach from Gloucester City, is also expected to be in Dave Busst's selection plans.

"The bottom line is that if any player doesn't want to play for the club, then they are welcome to go," said assistant manager Paul West yesterday. "Andy is part of our plans and when he's got his head on there's no better full back in the area."

The reward for Saturday's winners will be a step closer to the first round proper and a cash windfall of £3,750. United have already pocketed £3,250 and the underdogs will be confident that they can swell the club's coffers even more and claim a notable scalp.

The match is being sponsored by Danish Bacon Company, Peters-field, Hampshire and the ball by Steve Carter.

If the match ends all-square after 90 minutes, the replay will be at Weston next Wednesday, kick-off 7.45pm.

United's Division One West match at Bracknell Town has been rearranged for Tuesday, Nove-mber 23 (7.45).
