Nursery children caught on camera

A NEW nursery in the Stour Valley will allow parents to keep a watchful eye on their children wherever they may be.

Warwickshire businessman Steve Taylor has installed state-of-the-art computer technology in Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery so parents can watch live CCTV footage of their child via their computer at work.

Architect Mr Taylor is no stranger to innovation; last year he proposed a novel solution to the lack of affordable homes in the Cotswolds by converting an old grain silo in Long Compton into a house.

His nursery development, believed to the first of its kind in the area, is housed in a former farm building in Upper Tysoe.

The father of three, aged 47, said the CCTV idea was a natural development from an 'open door' policy. "Not only do we have CCTV for the safety of the children, but parents can watch their child play on their computer monitor during their lunch break for complete peace of mind.

"It will also capture those 'special moments' that can be recorded for parents and grandparents to view."

Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery is due to open on January 24 and is registered with Ofsted to cater for 24 children. It will be run by a team of people from nearby villages led by former headmistress Janet Austin.

Parents are invited to take a preview of the facilities at an open day tomorrow, Friday, from 10am-4pm.
