Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League
IT WAS tenth time lucky for third division Pebworth as they recorded their first league win of the season.
The narrowest of victories over Broadway United Reserved left their victims at the foot of the table and ruing a late penalty miss.
Pebworth started the game with ten men and were reduced to nine men, but Danny Payne's solitary strike was sufficient to earn the villagers three welcome points.
Two goals from Richard Steeds helped leaders Bretforton Old Boys to a narrow win at Ashton.
Moreton Town moved second after hitting six past Wickhamford with Neal scoring four.
Crowle, meanwhile, made the long journey to Norgren and returned with an odd goal in seven win, while Hampton WMC defeated Queens 5-0 with goals from Hooper, Beattie, Rignall, Redding and Dipple.
Bell United closed the gap on the Division Four leaders after a 7-3 defeat of George. Phil Roberts scored a hat-trick including the opener after only 20 seconds.
Pinvin United regained top spot after victory at Lenches Lions where Chris Fletcher netted twice.
A second half strike from Cooke gave Gate Inn the points against Crown Athletic, Royal Oak defeated Cider Mill with goals from Swain and Davies, while Riverside and Bengeworth Sports shared eight goals.
Two points separate the top four in Division One and it was Red Horse who moved top after a comfortable win at Evesham WMC.
Upton Snodsbury moved up to fourth with Tony McLean scoring twice against Mickleton Rangers. Ben Greenwood doubled that tally as the Bear tore Willersey apart and Inkberrow recorded a second successive league win thanks to a Nick Ace brace against Offenham Rovers.
Peopleton remain undefeated at the top of Division Two after Peterson, Lavery and Hughes were on target as they won at local rivals Defford and Besford.
Broadway United remain second after goals from Bayliss and Dyke defeated Oddfellows Arms.
Bredon remain third after two goals from Martin Hill led the way as they hit six past Lower Moor Utd, while there were wins elsewhere for Badsey Rec and Shipston Excelsior.
