Drama at death

TUESDAY night's final set of Cotswold Floorball League games saw Tredington qualify for the play-offs in dramatic style.

They had seen off the challenge of Swell, 7-0, with goals from Will McCoombe (2), Hollie Rooney (2), George Cowper (2) and a penalty shot from Jon Rooney.

Swell had earlier lost out in unlucky fashion when an own goal proved to be the only score against Temple Guiting B.

In the deciding match, a draw would be good enough for Tredington to qualify.

McCoombe gave them an early lead, but Beth Mitchell scrambled a goal for Guiting with ten minutes to go.

Emily Muskett then fired in a great shot to to put Guiting into play-off contention.

Tredington fired shots in but the defence of Guiting was resolute until, with a minute to go, a free hit was awarded close to goal.

After several attempts, McCoombe earned his team the draw and a place in the next stage of competition.

Tredington join Dormer House, St Catharine's, Bloc-kley, Temple Guiting, Ilmin-gton, Stow, St James and Shipston in the next phase.
