An ace in the Algarve

GRAHAM Reynolds fired his drive straight into the hole at the prestigious Quinta de Lago Club in Portugal.

The Chipping Norton golfer was in the Alga-rve alongside professional Neil Rowlands, Mark Stanton and John Evans for the PGA Sou-thern Region Pro-Am.

Reynolds, playing off five, used a six-iron to ace the "signature" hole during the opening 18 holes of the 72-hole event.

The quartet recorded a combined score of 26-under-par to secure ninth place in the competition.

There was further glory for the club when the ladies made progress in the opening round of the 2005 Mail on Sunday Classic.

The squad, comprising Rhiannon Davies, Jenny Reynolds, Christine Reeves, captain Thelma Mawle, Sheila Jones and Mary Smith, defeated Brailes 3-2.
