Time bank saved by £10,000 grant

THE future of a Cotswold community project has been secured with a £10,000 grant.

The money has been given to the Fairshares Time Bank, which is based on New Road, Moreton, by Cotswold District Council.

The cash came as a result of a decision last year to reduce the discounts enjoyed by the owners of second homes in the district from 50 to ten percent.

The Fairshares project was set up in 2002 and gives members the chance to earn 'time credits' by doing good turns for others. These credits can then be cashed in for services such as dog walking, gardening and shopping for senior citizens.

Fairshares time broker Kate Newman said the money would be used to meet running costs and extend the service to Northleach, Chipping Campden and other Cotswold towns.
