Vandals break goal

SHIPSTON Primary School faces a bill for £750 after vandals smashed a goalpost leaving children with nowhere to practice for league matches.

School bursar Margaret Allen said the children were devastated when they saw what had happened to their pitch.

"They feel that the school belongs to them and naturally they were very upset about what happened.

"We also had to cancel their football club for a week until the posts were mended, which is a shame because they play in two local leagues and need all the practice they can get."

The goalpost has now been replaced by Warwickshire County Council's ground maintenance team but the school will still have to fork out for the damage.

"Finding this money is going to be very difficult," said Mrs Allen. "Particularly now at the end of the financial year when our budgets are very tight."
