Three cheers for village pub

A PUB which has brought a taste of Sweden to Winchcombe has been named Best Pub of the Year 2005 by the licensed trade's newspaper, The Morning Advertiser.

As well as being named as the country's best, the White Hart was also voted the regional champion for the south west and picked up a second national prize as the Innovation Pub of the Year.

The pub's triple success was announced at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in London earlier this month.

Nicole Burr, who developed the Swedish theme at the pub alongside her father David, said: "We hoped we would have a chance to win innovator of the year but we were certainly not expecting anything in addition to that. To proceed to best in the south west and best in the UK was phenomenal.

"We are all absolutely over the moon. It is a fantastic achievement to win these prestigious awards, we are still celebrating."
