PLANS for commemorating the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War have been drawn up by Moreton's Royal British Legion.
Following a public meeting a committee has been formed to organise a weekend of events on Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10.
Among the proposed events are an open-air fete and market in the town centre, a pig roast, a live music event and a 1940s tea dance.
Branch treasurer Jenny Harris called on more people to get involved in the planning.
"This is a year of commemoration and events and do not have to be restricted to those dates alone," she said.
"Other groups are being approached to run other projects such as a children's tea party, a teenagers' evening, information to schools and displays of wartime memorabilia and photographs of Moreton.
"The committee is particularly interested to hear from anyone who has memories of Moreton on VE or VJ day."
A further meeting is being held at the club on Monday from 7.30pm.
