LOCALS at a Cotswold pub are tackling the question of how to raise funds for their village church.
Dozens of people are turning out for monthly quiz nights at the Cherington Arms, near Shipston, to help raise £20,000 for the bells of St John the Baptist Church.
Licensee Nick Holt said the events had already raised more than £400. "The bells are in drastic need of repair, the whole framework needs attention. There was a meeting in the church to talk about fund-raising ideas and we decided to get involved."
The restored belfry will also be home to a new sixth bell, which was recently donated to the church by an anonymous benefactor.
Other fund-raising events in the village have included a roving dinner, which netted about £1,600.
