Historic churches' fund-raiser honoured

AWARDS have been given to last year's top fund-raisers, as more parishes are urged to join the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust annual sponsored ride and walk.

Patrick Gilmore, representing Holy Ascension Church in Oddington, has been awarded the Holmes Salver for his part in raising £1,020 for the trust.

Overall, £37,873 was raised across the county to help preserve Gloucestershire's ecclesiastical heritage.

This year's event is due to take place on Saturday, September 10. Any churches that have not yet received details of the event should contact Simon Ridley at 5C Lloyd Close, Cheltenham, GL51 7SZ.
