BRILLIANT sunshine and a light easterly breeze provided ideal conditions for the opening meeting of the season at Arden Sailing Club (Defford).
Among the dinghies taking part in the first race of the spring handicap series were two new to the club.
Ralph Evans launched his new Solo for the first time, a smart looking craft which also performed well though he was not quite able to beat Niall Campbell and Jane Smee in their Enterprise.
Stuart and Caroline Stephens also sailed their new Enterprise, which though not a brand new boat, looked smart and appeared to have early speed, but could not beat the Comet of Keith Stevens who finished third overall.
The club now expects a busy season and all were gratified at the enthusiastic start to the racing calendar. For information on learning to sail contact Helen 01905 23298 or Ray 01386 554109.
