A VALE of Evesham company is leading the way in promoting greater demand for plants.
PlantforLife is a major national campaign, driving sales through the supply chain, co-funded by the Horticultural Trades Association, the Horticultural Development Council and the European Union.
Launched in May of last year, the ongoing campaign is now encouraging businesses to utilise the promotion to help increase plant sales.
Proculture Plants Ltd, of Knowle Hill, Evesham, is the first such company to appreciate the potential extra demand the campaign could generate. Two lorries, a 7.5 tonne and a 17 tonne, have been sign written with the PlantforLife logo and website www.plantforlife.info.
These vehicles, like others in the Proculture fleet, travel the length and breadth of the UK, Eire and parts of Northern Europe delivering plants to nurseries, garden centres, local authorities, florists and DIY stores.
Targeted at members of the public, the campaign focuses on enhancing the benefits of using plants to improve personal health, well-being, the environment and business.
Derek Jarman, sales director at Proculture Plants Ltd, said: "The logos have been on the two lorries for the past week. Both drivers have been questioned by members of the public several times and had to resort to looking at the website to answer their questions."
He added: "They were so impressed that they have signed up to receive the free PfL magazine Outdoors published every quarter. From past experience it takes a lot to impress the drivers."
