A STRANGE (and Unexpected) Event! is the title of a show coming to Chipping Norton next week.
One of Europe's leading visual theatre companies, Horse+Bamboo, is bringing its award-winning show to The Theatre on Wednesday.
The show recreates the colourful setting of the Mexican festival El Dia de los Muertos -s the Day of the Dead.
It is the evening before the Day of the Dead and as night falls, the spirit of Mexican printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada rises from the ground dressed in a shroud.
"The riotous events that follow hurtle uproariously through the life of this extraordinary man and hero of the people," explained a theatre spokesperson.
She added: "Horse+Bamboo's show is aptly named. A Strange (and Unexpected) Event! depicts earthquakes, giant snails, skeletons riding bikes, bold heroes, mad assassins, red devils, miracles, revolution and resurrection, using a combination of masks, music, animation, puppetry and dance."
Horse+Bamboo has been wowing critics with its imaginative theatre for 26 years, gaining a reputation for its innovation and artistry.
The show starts at 8pm. It is a family show and as part of The Theatre's Live Night initiative, youngsters aged 15 to 19 can enjoy a meal in The Chequers next door and see the show for an all-in £5 ticket. Call the box office for more information on 01608 642350 (www.chippinnortontheatre.co.uk).
