Kim's all smiles!

KIM Smyly's Stanton stable enjoyed the fruits of their labours last weekend when the Cotswolds trainer sent out four winners and a second from five runners.

Bronson F'Sure started the ball rolling at Saturday's Brecon meeting at Llanfry-nach, but they really hit the jackpot with three winners during Sunday's Cotswold fixture at Andoversford.

Polar Summit looked as though he was going to cause a major upset in the Members, but a mistake at the last allowed Parahandy back into contention and Harry Dowty grabbed the opportunity with both hands and got up in the final strides to win by a neck.

Alex Puddy and Dunston Bill landed their third win of the current campaign when they easily disposed of three rivals in the Mens Open.

Teme Willows' challenge was dismissed as they met the rising ground and Dunston Bill just maintained his relentless gallop to score a facile success.

The horse runs in the colours of Puddy who runs an Archi-tectural Heritage Business at Toddington. The horse was originally purchased with the intention of selling him on at the end of the season. That policy may have to be reviewed!

Treble

The Smyly treble was completed by Catch the Bus in the Intermediate. Three horses arrived with a chance at the penultimate obstacle but Dow-ty's mount drew clear on the uphill run to the last and had the race in safekeeping as they turned into the home straight.

Mighty Montefalco and Titus Bramble fought out the finish of the Ladies Open as they had done at Tweseldown a few weeks earlier.

Gipsy Cricketer cut out much of the running but had nothing in reserve when passed at the next to last fence and it looked as though Claire Allen might just turn the table on her rival as she secured the inside berth as they approached the last.

Both horses rose as one at the last, but Mighty Montefalco was slightly quicker away and this proved decisive when Titus Bramble fought back gallantly on the flat.

This was the second win of the season for Mighty Monte-falco, a gift horse to his owner who works as an accountant at Jonjo O'Neill's stables at Jackdaws Castle.

The horse was given a good ride by daughter Anna who will shortly be moving to Herefordshire to become a grain trader.
