Revenge is sweet in Pinvin promotion push

PINVIN United moved within two points of promotion from Division Four of the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League following victory over third-placed Bell.

Pinvin avenged an earlier defeat as goals from Henry and Lamb sealed the win that was all the more important as second in the table George lost ground when a Craig Tennant goal earned Royal Oak the points.

Eckington maintained their promotion push as a Mather double helped overcome Gate Inn.

Stanley hit all four as Lenches Lions comfortably defeated Crown Athletic, while a Bullock treble helped Cider Mill win at Bengeworth Sports.

Defeat at Broadway United Reserves condemned Pebworth to relegation from Division Three as goals from Thomson, Jordan and Sutton's late winner overcame a Foxall double for Pebworth who had come back from two down in the second half.

Leaders Tewkesbury Town won comfortably at Wickhamford where Heath and Kavanagh both scored twice.

Moreton Town's promotion hopes were severely dented with defeat at Crowle for whom Hayward scored twice. Norgren defeated Queens with goals from Hedderman (2), Samson, Belton and May.

Division Two leaders Peopleton need just one point to clinch promotion following a hard-earned win over Badsey Rec.

Defford and Besford earned a valuable point at Shipston thanks to goals from Lawson and Croy, with the home side replying through Alexander and Hill.

Two goals from Smith gave Oddfellows Arms a share of the spoils at Mountinneers for whom Morse and Lee were on target.

A Matt Winter treble took Moreton Wanderers back to the top of Division One, but they were given a fright by Offenham Rovers for whom Tustin (2) and Griffiths scored. Lee Oxley grabbed the all-important fourth for the Morton side.

Bear won 4-1 at relegated Willersey with goals from Print, Hemming, Gibbons and Danby.

Ashton won through to the last four of the Evesham Mechanical Services Subsidiary Cup after goals from Gregg, Seneque and Hunting helped account for Riverside who netted through Rowberry and Gil.

Red Horse reached the final of the Evesham Hospital Junior Cup and will now face either Evesham WMC or Ambassador in the final.

Bretforton Old Boys and Lower Moor United booked their places in the last four of the Minor Cup.
