Pets come to life in holiday workshop

NEED to keep the children happy over the Easter holidays - or need them to work off some of that chocolate?

There's plenty going on all over the area to keep them interested.

In Pershore, creative children are being invited to make Felty Faces at Number 8. Two age groups (5-7s from 10am to noon and 8-12s from 1.30pm to 4pm) are invited to take along a picture of their pet or think of their favourite animal to bring to life in felt and take home to treasure.

Then, those who want to be entertained can go along to see Burglar Bill on stage on March 29. The family show aimed at children aged three to eight brings to life the storybook character whose life of crime is changed forever after he steals a strange big brown box with holes in it. At Evesham Arts Centre, Movies for Mobiles will appeal to older children (12 and over) who want to learn how to make the most of their phone technology. The workshops take place on March 30 and April 1 from 10am to 4pm and youngsters will go away with the skills to create, edit, and send short movies on their own phone - 'just bring your mobile and your imagination' say organisers (01386 45567).

The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury has put on some community activities for Easter at the town's Methodist Hall.

Learn some circus skills with Andy Clay on March 31 from 10am to 3pm. Described as 'an intensive taster session for beginners or improvers', youngsters aged eight to 11 can learn diablo, stilts, plate-spinning, unicycling and can even walk the tightrope.

Then there's a special Easter event for five to seven-year-olds on April 1 - The Hunt for the Magical Rule Book of Fun. It's Easter time but the children are sad because the special book has been lost, so Honor Benton will take them on a journey to find it, meeting all kinds of characters and obstacles on the way in a morning of songs, poetry and action. On Saturday, March 26, clowning and songs combine in Fishes Wishes at Malvern Theatres. It is a story about a little fish who lives in a glass of water. One day the cat wants to have him for breakfast but the fish escapes and hides. When he comes out, he finds himself in a new world full of air. Developed from its original Italian by Lyngo Theatre, the show is described as 'a philosophoical scientific cabaret for the very young'. (01684 892277-www.malvern-theatres.co.uk)

Outdoor types will enjoy a stroll around Croome Park near Pershore, which is staging an Easter Trail on March 27 and 28, from 10am to 4pm. (01905 371006).
