Pershore

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION: The women's section held their monthly meeting at St Wulstans.

Chairman Wendy Griffiths welcomed members and opened the meeting with the exhortation.

Ivy Reed, sick visitor, reported on those she had visited and sent cards to.

The treasurer's report was given by Laura Joyce.

The speaker for the evening was Kate Walton from Pershore Voluntary Centre on the work of the centre.

After refreshments, the raffle and monthly draw was made.

Thirty-one members had recently enjoyed lunch at the Star Hotel.

The speaker at the next monthly meeting will be Jenny Brumhead, a librarian.

PROBUS CLUB: A talk on Pershore Library was given at the February lunch by Jenny Brumhead, library manager. At meetings, member Adam Knowles gave an exploration of his hobby of collecting old books.

Guest speaker Brian Draper, MBE, took members on a walk along the 220-mile Severn Way.

Member Charles Bigland-Gibbons told the story of Donald Campbell's many brave attempts and successes at the water and land speed records.
