Gary's hat-trick sinks Welford

A COUPLE of matches in Herald Division Two of the Stratford Alliance produced 24 goals but the most exciting fayre on offer was at Cynder Meadow.

Hosts Welford, yet to win a match this winter, gave Bro-adway the shock of their lives in a thrilling Alun Rees Tro-phy tie that produced ten goals.

However, the gallant hosts again finished up losers despite two goals from Dan Valentino that were matched by a brace from Rich Craig and a hat-trick forG ary Sheridan.

Bidford also made progress thanks to the predatory instincts of Rich Layton in a 2-0 win at Henley but the club's second string continues to struggle and a latest reverse was a 6-2 thrashing at Ilmin-gton.

In the same Cutler Division Three section, Halfords hit four without reply to overcome Blockley, Badsey Ran-gers Reserves won 3-1 at Red Alert and a hat-trick from Rich Skan helped Dog and Pheasant to a 6-1 success at Kenilworth.

Tony Egan was the afternoon's star turn in front of goal with six goals in Studley Nags Head's 13-0 second division hammering of Tysoe United.

Steve Haughton chipped in with a treble, while Rich Foreman went two better with a nap hand as FISSC Reserves blasted in 11 goals without reply at home to Bodrum.

A solitary strike from Steve Dipple was sufficient to give Alcester Lions the points at Badsey United Reserves, while Cubbington found the net four times without reply in the top of the table clash at Littleton.

Third division Long Com-pton found life tough against top flight Badsey Rangers who had Jason Powell on the mark twice in a 4-1 Nursing Home Cup triumph.

Three matches in Journal Division One produced just eight goals with five coming at Halfords where title favourites Ilmington strengthened their grip on matters at the summit with a 4-1 win. Matt Ryan-Gill scored twice.

Martin Schembri was the scorer for Badsey United in a 1-0 win against Henley while goals from Lawrance Dann and Rich Elms helped Sout-ham to a 2-0 win at Quinton.

Clubs with silverware from last season are asked to return the cups and trophies to next month's Council of Clubs meeting.

Halfords have three trophies to return, Ilmington two and Littleton, Cubbington, Ship-ston and Badsey Rangers have one apiece.
