Volunteers' work provides safer access to historic sites

VOLUNTEERS from the Cotswold Wardens have been hard at work improving access to the Rollright Stones.

The work, which was completed on Saturday, is the final part of a scheme launched by the Rollright Trust in 2001 as part of a five-year conservation and management plan.

Stones custodian Dohn Prout said the work would make it easier for people to get from the King's Men circle to the Whispering Knights stones. "For the first time, visitors will no longer need to walk along a dangerous road."

The work has been completed with the support of landowner Peter Fowler, Oxfordshire County Council, the Trust for Oxfordshire's Environment, West Oxfordshire District Council, Cotswold AONB Partnership and Living Spaces.
