Birthday party for Pinter's party play

HAROLD Pinter's is 75 this year and there has been a revival of his first full-length play The Birthday Party, described as one of the greatest plays of the 21st century.

The play is about Stanley, an unemployed musician content with his mundane life in a run-down seaside town. When the sinister Goldberg and McCann arrive, Stanley's easy life is questioned as their intentions grow more ominous and everyone around them become caught in the web of Stanley's peculiar birthday party.

It comes to Malvern Theatres from April 4 to 9 and two Olivier Award winning actors are taking the lead roles - Eileen Atkins and Henry Goodman - both familiar to both stage and big screen audiences.
