A PATIENT-LED fundraising group in Stow is celebrating its fifth birthday.
Since it was founded five years ago Friends of Stow Surgery, FOSS, has spent more than £56,000 on improvements to the GP surgery in Well Lane, Stow.
FOSS, now a registered charity, has benefited from a number of legacies, including one of £30,000, which has recently enabled it to set up a reserve capital fund.
Members of the FOSS committee issued a message of thanks to all those who have raised funds or donated money in the past five years in an anniversary issue of the organisation's newsletter published last week
"The reserve is of course available to the practice at any time, as and when the doctors can put it to good use.
"It is reassuring to know that FOSS will be able to replace and upgrade existing equipment, for example the defibrillator, which cost £12,000 five years ago," said the committee.
The doctors at the surgery added their thanks to FOSS for its work over the past five years, not only in donating equipment but also in providing the newsletter to improve communications.
