Twinning link with France set to end

A TWINNING project between Stow and a town in western France looks set to be wound up.

Stow International Friendship Association (SIFA) was founded in 1996 to forge an unofficial link between Stow and Oudon, near Nantes.

However, the association has been inactive since 2001 when administrative problems forced a children's visit to Oudon to be abandoned only days before the youngsters were due to set off.

Barbara Hole, who helped found SIFA while on Stow Town Council, has now called for it to be wound up so the £200 in the association's bank account can be donated to a good cause.

Town councillor and SIFA account signatory Roger George suggested the money could go to Stow Youth Club.
