Town group is to focus on youth and enterprise

CHIPPING Norton's town partnership has decided that youth and enterprise will be the focus of its work to improve life in the town.

The recently-formed steering group, which includes representatives from local authorities, schools and other organisations, has decided to start working on two short-term projects.

The first will be to examine the possibility of creating an enterprise centre in the town to provide facilities for new businesses.

The second is a plan to launch a Young People's Forum with a youth day in the town.

Chipping Norton School headteacher Richard Graydon, who sits on the group, said the two projects would have long-term benefits for the town.

"The partnership steering group agreed that it would need to be realistic about how many projects it had the capacity to take on. It is better to do fewer well than raise expectation with too many not delivered properly.

"It is also important to leave capacity to consider new ideas that are certain to be proposed in the future."

The group's next task will be to appoint a project manager to oversee the schemes and to agree a draft constitution.
