Cotswolds ready for the elections

AMONG the 114 polling stations used by voters in the General Election for the Cotswold constituency, currently held by Conservative Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, will be a barn and a church.

Cotswold District Council chief executive Bob Austin said he was ready to fulfil his duty as returning officer on May 5.

"At the council we are all prepared and ready to go because obviously the Gloucestershire County Council elections were going to happen on May 5 so we had a good idea that would be the date of the General Election."

Nominations for the county council elections closed today but prospective parliamentary candidates can throw their hats into the ring between April 13-19.
